The one place that we have all probably felt safest over the last three months is our homes. At home we are usually comfortable in our surroundings, dropping down into a sofa or pulling up a chair at the kitchen table without a second thought. Until recently the club for many has felt like a second home, with a much bigger dining room and backyard playground. But as members return, clubs have an increased responsibility under new protocols and restrictions. Areas of the club that were once open and free to use by members might now be limited to smaller capacities, requiring club staff to regulate members’ club usage. Below is a list of club areas that, although not traditionally required, might now benefit from reservations.

Our clients, our industry, and our families have had to pivot very quickly over the last six weeks. We feel that 2020 is going to be the year when clubs reinforce how important they are to their membership and community. In honor of the “year of the club” we’d like to share with you 20 ways clubs are succeeding during Covid-19 and planning for re-opening in what seems to be our new, hopefully temporary, normal.
Our teachers are incredible! They are learning to teach virtually to keep our country educated and everyone has greater respect for the work that they do. In fact, some of our own team are juggling work and teaching/daycare responsibilities at the same time (note: this is a lot harder than our normal jobs.) We've seen how important continued education is at a time like this and, as such, we've ramped up our training webinars during the month of April so you can continue to be educated on the software your members depend on.
As clubs are creatively adjusting their operations and communications, it's impressive to see everyone's dedication to carry on the club spirit. Being faced with wholesale changes, such as transforming to a takeout business, adapting facilities to limit exposure, and adjusting communications on the fly, were just a few of last week's challenges. Your ability to show your membership how resilient and dedicated you are during this period proves the value of membership and will set your organization up for success after this health crisis subsides.

The FLCMAA has been at the forefront of modernizing its membership communication strategy. The chapter was the first to launch a mobile app and the new website is another example of being an industry leader. Since 2012 the membership has grown by 20% and the modernization of the new website will be instrumental in providing current members new online resources, highlighting chapter sponsors and marketing the chapter to new club managers.
